Where's Jesus?

Luke 2:40 And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast. And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned, the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew not of it. But they, supposing him to have been in the company, went a day's journey; and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintance. And when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem, seeking him. And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions.

Jesus was with His parents at the feast of passover. But they lost him. In all the festivities, He went missing. It was ironic as He was to be the very fulfilment of the passover. The lamb that takes away the sin of the world. If only they knew. This was fore-telling His life and death.

But they left Him behind.

At this time of year as people celebrate Jesus Birthday. It's easy to lose Jesus. In the presents. In the celebration, in the eating and visiting people, you can get caught up in the tradition and look and find the real reason we celebrate, the fulfilment of everything; Jesus is missing. He has been left behind.

This Christmas Don't leave Jesus behind.

Prayer:

Father, forgive us for making Christmas all about everything but You. We choose to stay close to You this Christmas and make You central to all we do in Jesus' Name, Amen.
