Jeremiah 31:21 NKJV "Set up signposts, Make landmarks; Set your heart toward the highway, The way in which you went. Turn back, O virgin of Israel, Turn back to these your cities." NLT "Set up road signs; put up guideposts. Mark well the path by which you came...."
It's important to remember where you've been and the journey that got you from where you once were to where you are now. It's important to remember your steps where you went wrong or right in order to learn and in order to teach others. That's why testimonies are so important.
What was the problem? How did God bring you through?
What path did you take to get out of the mess? Where did you end up? How did the blessing of the Lord come about? This passage is written to backslidden Israel to call them back to God and for them to remember their path that they took to be restored—which was heartfelt genuine repentance towards a merciful God. So that's a signpost, repentance. It's tried and tested and it works. If your relationship with God is a mess, if your stuck in a cycle of sinful habbits/mindsets, if you're backslidden or have no relationship with God, perhaps you need to repent.
Forsake all compromise and adjust your steps in the right direction. Renounce all failures and past hurts and fully commit wholeheartedly to genuine devotion again. It does work. Other breakthroughs come through faith and perseverance.
When you needed a miracle, what scriptures did you hold on to?
How did you build up your faith?
How did you position yourself to recieve what God had?
What advice can you give others who may need a similar breakthrough?
People need to know what worked and what didn't work.
What where the results of the choices you made?
What where the results of the Gospel at work in you?
Our biggest signpost should be the one that points to the cross, the one that points to Jesus.
He is the gate, He is the path, He is the way, the truth and the life, He's the lamb of God that takes away sin, He's the author and finisher of our faith, the only name by which we are saved! JESUS CHRIST Son of the Living God.
Mark well where He brought you from, what He brought you through and where He brought you to, because this information can save someone else's life too.
Prayer:
Father thank You for where You brought me from. I chose to remember my steps and remember the journey (good or bad) so that I can learn and teach others too. Let my life be a signpost to others who can come to You also. Amen.
