Time To Seek The Lord

Matt Richards

2 Chronicles 12:14 So King Rehoboam established and strengthened himself in Jerusalem and reigned. Rehoboam was forty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city in which the Lord had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel to put His Name [and the symbol of His presence]. His mother was Naamah an Ammonitess. And he did evil because he did not set his heart to seek (inquire of, yearn for) the Lord with all his desire. And he did evil, for he did not set his heart to seek the LORD.

You know King Rehoboam was the grandson to David. David was described in the bible as 'a man after God's heart.' His son was Solomon who built God a house. His grandson was Rehoboam.

Maybe, just maybe, Solomon didn't love the Lord the same as David but got caught up with buildings. Maybe, just maybe, Rehoboam didn't love the Lord as much as Solomon and got caught up with just strengthening and establishing himself.

He committed the sin of not setting his heart to seek the Lord.

You see in the Kingdom of God there are no grandchildren. No matter how much heritage or how powerful your parents or grandparents were in God, you need your own walk with Jesus.

You need to seek the Lord for yourself. No second hand, passed down, Christianity. You need your own encounter.

Many people say: "Hey pastor have you got a prophetic word for me?" And I understand their heart, but there have been times I have responded like this.

I have often answered: "yes I do...here it is: "you need to fast and pray, seek God and get a word for yourself you lazy thing".

You see there's something about getting on your face for yourself and seeking His face and hearing His voice.

A shallow, low cost, second hand word is not going to be the same. You need to seek His face for yourself.

When did you last seek the Lord?

What did He ask or say to you?

In this crazy Covid messed up world, it's time to seek the Lord. In a world of many voices, I want to know what God's voice is.

Prayer:

Father forgive me for being lazy. I don't want to be about buildings or myself. I want to know what You want. I choose to seek Your face today. God what do You want from me? In Jesus' Name, amen.
