Thank You Lord For Your Blessings On Me

Matt Richards

1 Timothy 2:6-10 But godliness with contentment is great gain, for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world. But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.

A very rich man was being buried. He had been a successful business owner. At his funeral someone asked, "how much did he leave behind?"

"Everything" was the reply, "he left everything behind".

And the truth is no matter how much money you earn, how many houses built, how many cars owned and possessions you acquire; when it's time to die you have to leave it all behind. That's everything. You just can't take any of it with you.

I have seen people start off well in their Christian journey only to end bad, because of the love of money.

It's like they loved Jesus and started to get restored in their life, then became obsessed in making money. The love of money, and the pursuit of it distracted them to the extent that they didn't have time for Jesus or church. The same Jesus that helped them earn in the first place soon gets forgotten.

The pursuit of money and wealth consumed them.

The bible says seek FIRST the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added to you.

When there is a money crash and imminent failings in the monetary system; there will be many broken and desperate, even suicidal people.

Learn right now to be content in Jesus.

Someone once said: " I didn't know Jesus was all I needed until Jesus was all I had".

If you can be content with very little right now, and seek His kingdom first then when things are added to you it won't distract or ruin you.

Let's not be a people that loves money more than Jesus. Let's not be a church that's obsessed with money and stuff either.

Right now at this very present time I am content, I am so grateful.

Here is one of my dad's favourite songs.

"There's a roof up above me and I've a good place to sleep, there's food on my table and shoes on my feet. You gave me Your love Lord and a fine family and I thank you Lord for Your blessings on me."

What are you grateful for today?

Prayer:

Father forgive me for worrying and being concerned about money. Thank You that I am truly blessed. Thank You for Your blessings on me today in Jesus' name Amen.
