Matt Richards
Luke 23:4-5 And Pilate said to the chief priests and the throngs, I find no guilt or crime in this Man. But they were urgent and emphatic, saying, He stirs up and excites the people, teaching throughout all Judea—from Galilee, where He began, even to this place.
You know true disciples of Jesus are stirrers. They are passionate. They incite, they provoke and unsettle people .
Some people will be excited and stirred up for Jesus and the kingdom of God. Others, however, will just be stirred up, and upset and angry as their comfort is challenged.
The Message puts it this way, 'But they were vehement. "He's stirring up unrest among the people with his teaching, disturbing the peace."'
Whether for Jesus or whether against you, expect a reaction. You are called to wake people up. To excite, to stir, to provoke passion. Christians, radicals are going to be accused of stirring up unrest and disturbing the peace.
If my messages, if church messages are not stirring, not challenging then they are in danger of sending people to sleep. Promoting indifference.
Someone once said, make them mad or glad but don't make them indifferent.
Don't be afraid of being accused of disturbing the peace. You are called to be a stirrer.
Prayer:
Father forgive me for wanting to please all the people all the time. Give me courage and passion to speak the truth in love. Thank You for passion for You today in Jesus' name amen.
