Mark 1:29-31 "And immediately he left the synagogue and entered the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John. Now Simon's mother-in-law lay ill with a fever, and immediately they told him about her. And he came and took her by the hand and lifted her up, and the fever left her, and she began to serve them."
Firstly, I want to say Jesus is wonderful.
I love the stories of His miracles and how He touches lives.
Time and time again in the Gospels we see that He takes people by the hand and lifts them up. When you are down, sick, messed up even dead, what you really need is a hand from Jesus.
He will lift you up out of your messed up situation.
I love this lady's response to her miracle.
She got up and began to serve. Your response to the hand of God on your life is important.
Not everyone responded like this. In one instance, ten lepers where healed by Jesus but only one came back to say thank you. (Luke 17)
But Simon's mother-in-law got up to serve.
What a great attitude! What a great witness.
"I've been healed and given a second chance, and now, I just want to be a blessing!"
That a major key to a fulfilled life in the kingdom of God. "He saved me, and rescued me and lifted me up out of the mess I was in, so now, I just want to serve Him serve those around me!"
I love it in church, when you can see that Jesus has touched somebody, because they're so keen to be a blessing and a help. I want to be like that, I want to always have that enthusiasm. When you're keen to be a blessing and serve in small things, God will let you serve in big things too!
Prayer:
God thank You for lifting us up and healing our lives. Thank You Jesus for taking hold of us and giving us life! And now, we just want to be a blessing! We want to serve and be used by You to bless others and help others out. In Jesus' name Amen
