Luke 3:7 When the crowds came to John for baptism, he said, “You brood of snakes! Who warned you to flee the coming wrath? Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God. Don’t just say to each other, ‘We’re safe, for we are descendants of Abraham.’ That means nothing, for I tell you, God can create children of Abraham from these very stones.
Proof reading: 'carefully checking for errors in a text before it is published or shared'
This jumped out at me this morning. John the Baptist was saying to many church goers of the day. "You say you've changed from your ways and are following God now prove it."
You see there were many followers, some even religious ones, but the proof of repentence, a change of mind, is a change of direction, a change of behaviour.
'let your changed life be proof"
'conduct... worthy of a heart changed' (amp)
'After all is said and done there's more said than done'
I will never coerce or persuade someone to give their life to Jesus. If I have to persuade them into it: won't take long for someone else to persuade them out of it.
You see it's not just words, saying a prayer after me, it's repentence with actions that count. You believe in Jesus? So does the devil. You believe in Jesus think your safe? Then listen to John the Baptist here: repentent and prove it with your actions.
Hard word today (please don't get offended unless it leads to change) I say this because I love you. Time to get right with God.
Have you been proof read...
Father thank You for grace and mercy. I repent. I choose to put actions to my words. Help me Holy Spirit to be real. Show me the things I need to change today and the strength to carry through in Jesus' name amen.
