Matthew 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.
Facebook is a funny, but dangerous place.
It's a bit like the Jerry Springer show, where the weird and wonderful are egged onto fight each other throughout the show, then at the end Jerry gives life changing advice: "just remember to be kind to each other." (Or something like that)
There are many professional meddlers in life, and on Facebook so be aware. Many 'Jerry Springer facebook pastors' that will see someone in distress and without knowing the background, egg them on in their anger. Give them wrong advice, and then say be kind to each other, or be blessed at the very end.
Instead of being a peacemaker, they bring their hurt and anger into the situation. "Yeah I was hurt in church too, stay away".
"Yeah you should be angry, happened to me once", "they shouldn't said that to you go sort them out." "You deserve better than that get rid of them." "All men are the same", etc. etc.
Stirrers of strife. Stirrers of rebellion. I've seen it so many times.
We need peacemakers; not stirrers.
I've also seen people who live in a totally non-Christian crazy, destructive way giving pastoral advice and thought. Man you're letting them speak into your life without even knowing what they're into and the mess they are in. How are they gonna help you bro?
Some of my top facebook tips:
You dont have to correct everyone.
You don't have to win every argument.
If upset with someone/strongly disagree: private message them.
Remember: you could be wrong.
Delay your response to a post.
Ask: is my response bringing peace and the person closer to God?
Be a peacemaker and try to reconcile rather than stir.
P.S. If you scroll past this without sharing absolutely nothing bad will happen to you.
(But that's a different article altogether)
Prayer:
Father, in a world that wants drama, fights and stirring help me to be different. Help me to be peacemaker and a minister of reconciliation. In Jesus' Name Amen.
