Passion For Jesus

Matt Richards

Revelation 2:2 I know you are enduring patiently and bearing up for my name's sake, and you have not grown weary. But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first. Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent.

'My fear is not that our great movement, known as the Methodists, will eventually cease to exist or one day die from the earth. My fear is that our people will become content to live without the fire, the power, the excitement, the supernatural element that makes us great.' John Wesley Have you lost your fire? Have you lost your passion for Jesus? Have you lost the excitement, the thrill of just being in His presence? You can do all the ministry stuff tirelessly and faithfully, but lose your first love. It's easy to walk away, to abandon the love you first had for Jesus. People can wear you down, circumstances can eat at you, ministry or good causes even can tire you out. It can become easy to forget why and how you first started this Christian life. It's all about a love for Jesus. All of us need to rekindle a passion, a love for Jesus. Everything else flows from that relationship from that love. Don't be content to live without the fire, the power, the excitement, the supernstural element that makes us great. Otherwise it's just a dry religion. Don't be content to live without the passion and love for Jesus today. 'My eyes are dry My faith is old My heart is hard My prayers are cold And I know how I ought to be Alive to You And dead to me [Chorus] Oh, what can be done For an old heart like mine? Soften it up With oil and wine The oil is You, Your Spirit of love.' Keith Green Prayer:

Father I feel I have lost my passion, my fire, my love for Jesus. Holy Spirit help me to love Jesus more today. Rekindle the fire in my heart, soften me with Your oil and wine that I might enjoy, that I might love Jesus' presence today in Jesus' name amen.
