Long way round

Matt Richards

Exodus 13:17,18 When Pharaoh finally let the people go, God did not lead them along the main road that runs through Philistine territory, even though that was the shortest route to the Promised Land. God said, “If the people are faced with a battle, they might change their minds and return to Egypt.” So God led them in a roundabout way through the wilderness toward the Red Sea.

----- In this passage the children of Israel, Gods people were dramatically delivered from Pharaoh. But subsequently they were on their journey to the promised land. Instead of them going straight there God diverted their route to the long way round. This was because God said they really weren't ready for the battles ahead just yet; so got them to divert their route even though it took much longer. Ever feel like that. That you are going the long way round.? Why can't i just go straight into ministry or my promised land? Here's the thing, maybe your just not ready. Maybe the Holy Spirit is diverting you to the long way round to stop you being defeated and discouraged. Maybe just maybe you need some more spiritual muscles , more time in the gym; God's gym. In a world of shortcuts, instant fame and overnight success: trust the process, stay on the journey for the long haul. Be faithful. Keep training. Keep moving forward it will be worth it in the end.

Prayer:

Forgive me for my impatience. Thank You that You are leading me. I choose to follow You, know matter how long it takes. I trust You in life's journey; help me Holy Spirit today to keep moving forward in Jesus amen.
