Lessons From The Broom Cupboard

Matt Richards

1 Kings 19:4 But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness and came and sat down under a lone broom or juniper tree and asked that he might die. He said, It is enough; now, O Lord, take away my life; for I am no better than my fathers.

You know Elijah was a mighty man of God. He saw the defeat of the prophets of Baal. Soon after being threatened by Jezebel he went on the run and came to the point where he had had enough.

He went approximately as far as 80 miles away and was worn out and depressed; so much so that he sat under a broom tree and wanted to die.

Lesson 1

Mighty men and women of God are vulnerable after great victory.

Lesson 2

If it happened to Elijah it could happen to me.

Lesson 3

Jezebel will try to bring fear and depression.

Lesson 4

Jezebel and my self pity can lead to feeling suicidal. (You are not mental.)

Lesson 5

The devil wants to make you feel you are on your own and that's a lie.

Lesson 6

When you've come the end of your strength God sends angels to minister to you .

(To be continued..)

There's a time every man or woman of God will end up in the broom cupboard.

Be encouraged He is with you, you are not alone. You are coming out again strengthened and encouraged. You are a mighty man or woman of God. You are not forgotten.

Prayer:

Father forgive me for feeling sorry for myself. Thank You that You are with me and I'm coming through this. Minister to me by Your Holy Spirit that I might return to my mission in Jesus' Name Amen.
