Matt Richards
Matthew 25:37 Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ And the King will answer them, Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’.
You know one of my hero's is Keith Green. He really is. If you haven't watched, or read 'No Compromise (his story)' you should do. If you haven't listened to any of his music; you so need to.
This song 'Asleep in the Light', based on Matthew 25 and the 'talky bit' before just makes me weep. He is so anointed, the message is so powerful. So relevant.
I don't want to play church or Christianity.
I don't want to leave Jesus in the Street, or the slum naked.
Many years ago I had lunch with someone homeless. (I will never give someone money on the Street, but happily buy food and eat with them. I encourage others to do likewise).
And I felt the Holy Spirit say you had lunch with Jesus. Coz when you do it to the least of these.
Whether it's a prisoner, a stranger, someone homeless, an orphan or someone with special needs; let's love them with the love of Jesus.
Let's love them like they were Jesus (coz actually in a way they are). Because when you do it to the least of these, you do it to Me.
Prayer:
Father forgive me for my shallow Christianity. Help me today to buy You lunch, to get You some clothes, to minister to You. Show me, Holy Spirit who I can bless today I want to love You in word and deed, in Jesus' name amen.
