Matt Richards
Matthew 8 And behold, a leper came up to Him and, prostrating himself, worshiped Him, saying, Lord, if You are willing, You are able tocleanse me by curing me. And He reached out His hand and touched him, saying, I am willing; be cleansed by being cured. And instantly his leprosy was cured and cleansed.
You know there's some BAD NEWS and some GOOD NEWS.
Sin is bit like leprosy (as preached several weeks ago it's a bit like addiction too), a disease.
Many people with sin and addictions feeling outcast, feeling shame. Feel diseased.
The bible says the wages of sin is death.
The bible says after death comes judgement. The disease of sin will lead you to death and then eventually hell. That's some serious bad news right there. The prognosis is poor.
The good news however, is there is a cure for sin.
It's very expensive though and you can't afford it. That's the blood of Jesus. The good news is Jesus paid your bill in full. That's the Gospel.
Jesus took the disease of sin, the disease of addiction on the cross.
And He defeated it.
If Sin is a disease..then Jesus is the cure.
The good news is like this leper in the bible who came to Jesus. He asked the question, "If You are willing You can cleanse me."
Jesus stretched out His hand and touched him and said, "I am willing. Be made whole."
Jesus is still stretching out His hand to those with the disease of sin and addiction.
And you know He is still willing,
Willing to forgive you, willing to cleanse you, willing to cure you, and willing to make you whole.
Prayer:
Father thank You that Jesus came for sinners like me. Thank You, I deserve hell. Thank You that what You did on the cross is the cure. Thank You that You are willing to touch my life today. Forgive me today and touch me today and make me whole in Jesus' name Amen.
