If Hurting people Hurt people, then Healed people Heal people

Matt Richards

2 Corinthians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

Many many times I see hurting, broken people try helping hurting, broken people. In recovery this is what is called 'co-dependence.' People want to help because they are in fact wanting to feel good or fix the brokenness in themselves. The end result can be everybody gets messed up.

But when God heals someone of their hurt and their pain, then this is a different story.

God comforts, heals, and restores us in our worst situations. Then with the same comfort that we have received from God, we can give to others.

God uses everything bad you've been through; but more importantly every healing that came out of the bad then becomes a source of comfort and healing to someone broken.

The mistake we often make in church is not seeing people comforted and healed before they minister. We take someone desperate and driven to make a difference and let them help the world rather than seeing them through to being helped themselves and healed and comforted.

Are you hurting today?

Only Jesus can fix your broken heart. Allow Him to begin to comfort and heal you right now.

Are you comforted and healed today?

Maybe now you can help someone else get healed also.

If hurting people hurt people, then healed people heal people.

Prayer:

Father thank You that You comfort us in our worst situations. You heal us and restore us so that we can minister out of a place of healing to others. You are the God of all comfort. Heal and comfort broken lives today. Start with me, heal my broken heart in Jesus' Name Amen.
