Job 33:23-26 “If there is a messenger for him, A mediator, one among a thousand, To show man His uprightness,
Then He is gracious to him, and says, ‘Deliver him from going down to the Pit; I have found a ransom’;
His flesh shall be young like a child’s, He shall return to the days of his youth. He shall pray to God, and He will delight in him, He shall see His face with joy, For He restores to man His righteousness."
Ransom a consideration paid or demanded for the release of someone or something from captivity.
...to free from captivity or punishment by paying a price.
I just love the gospel. This is from the book of Job, written so many years before Jesus came to this world. In fact, it's said that Job is the oldest book in the bible.
But even then, prophecy after prophecy came fourth about salvation through the Messiah, Jesus Christ.
And what's beautiful is that healing and restoration physically, emotionally, and spiritually have always been in the heart of God and part of His plan even in the old testament.
Whatever the affliction that you're facing, there's good news...GREAT news in fact.
There is a ransom for your life. There is a legitimate trade for you to bring you out from captivity.
In hostage situations, when someone is kidnapped, the kidnapper will ask for a ransom, a bargaining price, for the life of his hostage. It's the whole point of kidnapping...to make money.
But in this case, spiritually, sin, sickness, and despair have taken so many as hostage. And the asking price is death. The wages of sin is death.
But bless God, the wages of sin have been paid on our account! The ransom for our lives has been paid in full and we've been set free from captivity!
Jesus died for us to be saved and he ransomed us from sin and sickness, so that redemption and restoration could take place in us and through us! That healing and salvation would come swiftly and that we would be sent out as messengers, to show the world God's righteousness!
When God sees you in your distress, and satan the accuser, the kidnapper brings charges against you, and sickness tries to kill you, God's reply is, "I have found a ransom".
There's a ransom for you, there's a ransom for your family, your children, your loved ones, the whole world in fact...the price was paid in full!
His name is Jesus!
Prayer:Â
Father thank You that there is a ransom! Thank You for Jesus, the price He paid was enough to restore me, enough to heal me, enough to redeem my life from destruction, and bring me up from the pit! I receive it today in Jesus' name amen!
