God Still Loves Cavemen And Losers (Part 1)

Matt Richards

1 Samuel 22:1-2 So David left Gath and escaped to the cave of Adullam. Soon his brothers and all his other relatives joined him there. Then others began coming—men who were in trouble or in debt or who were just discontented—until David was the captain of about 400 men. (NLT)

Not only that, but all who were down on their luck came around—losers and vagrants and misfits of all sorts. David became their leader. (MSG)

Someone ridiculing me once said church, "this Jesus thing is for the weak, it's just a crutch". I disagreed and replied, "for me it's not just one crutch it's two, in fact it's more than crutches, it's my breathing apparatus, my very life support. Without Jesus I would be dead."

Let me tell you, this Jesus walk, this Church thing, this Radical life truly is for those 'down on their luck', those 'losers', 'vagrants and misfits'. Ha ha. Yes, that includes you.

Welcome to Church, welcome to Radical; it is a bit like the cave of Adallum: it's for men in trouble, in debt, or just discontent.

You see in that place of discontent, in that place of rejection, and need; God positions you, he fosters a hunger for change, a hunger for him. Positions you so where you once were a miss fit, you become a man or woman he transforms to a warrior for Him.

People with a past, with absolutely nothing to lose and everything to gain.

That's church. That's Radical. That's Jesus. It's for cavemen it's for losers. Are you in trouble, in debt, or just discontent?

Welcome to cave-church. Church shouldn't be a social club, it's more like a hospital. You wouldn't go to a hospital and point at people and say: "what are they doing here? They are all sick". It's a hospital that's where the sick go to be healed.

Well, there might be damaged, broken, and messed up people in Radical and I am so glad to have them. As Jesus is healing and delivering them and transforming them into a mighty army.

God still fixes broken people. Jesus, like David, still loves caveman and He still loves losers.

There is Hope.

Prayer:

Thank You Father that You still love me with my problems and needs. I choose to position myself for healing, for wholeness. Heal me, transform my life, warts and all so that Imight be a warrior for You in Jesus' name amen.
