Galatians 1:10 For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ.
You know you just cant be a 'man pleaser' and a God pleaser at the same time. Just doesn't work.
There are times we make the mistake of bending over backwards to please people in church. Coffee, donuts, freebies, non offensive sermons, not confronting sin, etcetera, etcetesa. just to get people back next week.
But I just can't play the game. Jesus never played the game. At times He did the very opposite and totally put people off and challenged them.
You know if your looking to be entertained then you know you will be disappointed at radical.
If you come looking for coffee and donuts, you're better going to Krispy Kreme.
If your looking to have a motivational talk that leads to feeling good even if you're not right with God, you might not like this kind of service.
If you're looking to just be a spectator and do little, you will be challenged.
But if you're looking for hard work, commitment being provoked into action. taking part and winning the lost .
But if you're looking for holiness, the gifts and power of the Holy Spirit. for extended praise and worship, preaching against sin, being called to mission, you might just enjoy this and grow.
But you know, whatever you're looking for in church, we are determined to love people BUT to always please God first.
I can even be someone who wants to please myself all the time.
You see church is not about me, but it's all about Jesus.
There's a generation crying out, there must be more than this.
There comes a point in your Christian life where you have to abandon being a man or woman pleaser and become a God pleaser.
So what about you? Who are you wanting to please?
Prayer:
Father forgive me for trying to please everyone apart from You. I choose to put You first in my life. No more excuses. Be number one today. Help me Holy Spirit to live a life that gives Jesus Glory in Jesus' name, Amen.
