Job 38:1 Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind and said: “Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge? Dress for action like a man; I will question you, and you make it known to me.
Job here was going through hell. He had lost his family, his fortune and even his body was now sick with boils.
If there ever was a time Job needed a comforting word it was right now.
Ever feel like that? Everything that could gone wrong has gone wrong and you are at your wits end. You find yourself questioning God and sometimes even blaming God for what you're going through?
Well sometimes what we want, and what we need are two different things. Job wanted to feel sorry for himself and point the finger at God.
But God responds to his self pity, (and you know if anyone in the bible deserved to have a pity-party it was Job).
God responds, as the Message puts it harshly:
'Why do you confuse the issue? Why do you talk without knowing what you're talking about? Pull yourself together, Job! Up on your feet! Stand tall!'.
God, with a shocking word, snaps him out of his self pity. He wanted to feel sorry for himself, but he needed to get up on his feet and get dressed for action.
God was about to do a miracle and He needed him up, dressed and positioned for His restoration.
It's so easy when hell comes against us to want to stay in our pj's and hibernate.
I totally get that.
But God wants you to "get up, get up, get up" (as we sung friday night).
The time you feel most like giving up, is the time you need to...get up.
[Jesus asked the man do you want to be healed?..get up, pick up your bed and walk.]
Get-up, man-up, get dressed for action.
The church of Jesus today like Job has been hit hard. It has been stripped of so much recently, it's even painfully sick. The body, the church needs to stop hibernating and waiting for this pandemic to be over. It needs to get-up, man-up and get dressed for action.
Get ready, get dressed, up on your feet, stand tall, get in position for the mightiest restoration in church history.
Get-Up, Man-Up for Revival is coming.
Prayer:
Father forgive me for blaming You for bad stuff. I renounce self pity today. I choose to get up and get dressed for action. I choose to position myself for healing and restoration in Jesus' name amen.
