Numbers 24:10-11 Then Balak’s anger was aroused against Balaam, and he struck his hands together; and Balak said to Balaam, “I called you to curse my enemies, and look, you have bountifully blessed them these three times! Now therefore, flee to your place. I said I would greatly honor you, but in fact, the Lord has kept you back from honor.”
You know this whole passage is dramatic, angels with swords, talking donkey, good guys and bad guys, bribery and corruption; it makes Shrek look tame. Balaam had been disobedient, but God still used him. God will always bless Israel (so get over it and stop trying to curse them). That last bit was a bonus but not my main thought today. Balak became angry with Balaam because even in a backslidden state he had heard from God and became a blessing to God's people. So it all went wrong for him to the point where he was told to just, "Go back to where you belong". And that he was getting held back by God from honour and reward. You know you maybe selling out right now to money, approval, and compromise, and be backslidden. But there's still something of the prophetic in you that hears from God and blesses God's people. You know the world will recognise this and tell you to 'get back to where you belong.' You might have honour and promotion held back from you 'coz you just don't belong there. And God in His mercy make sure you get rejected from all that success and stuff. Recently I was at a festival and a man came up to me picked up a bag of cocaine from the ground and said, "do you know what this is?" I said, "yes" and was moved in the prophetic to say, "your mum and dad have prayed for you and so have your grandparents. You don't belong here". And it was true. I don't know who I'm talking to, but the world will even recognise that you don't belong with them. Even in your compromised state God uses you to bless others. Get back to where you belong. Get on fire for Jesus. You are branded by Him,you are ruined for a normal life. You are called and chosen Prayer:
Father I choose to come home. I belong with You. Forgive me for going my own way, wash me in Your blood. Thank You for calling me and choosing me I choose to be obedient today in Jesus Name Amen.
