From The Heart Of The Fire

Deuteronomy 9:10 "The LORD gave me the two tablets on which God had written with His own finger all the words he had spoken to you from the heart of the fire when you were assembled at the mountain."

When God gave the old covenant to Moses, He came down on top of the mountain, there was FIRE and SMOKE, and it was scary!

He wrote those commandments on the tablets of stone with His own finger.

But even with that incredible display of power and glory, the Israelites were still unable to keep the laws of God.

But God said in the new covenant that He will "write His commandments on the tablets of our hearts" (Jeremiah 31:33).

For this, the FIRE of God also came down on the day of Pentecost. But this time, rather than on stone tablets, God wrote His instructions on the hearts of His people, so that we can keep them!

You see when the Holy Spirit comes, He writes His laws on our hearts. This is what the old covenant didn't have.

And these are the laws: Love God with all your heart, soul, and strength,

And to love your neighbour as you love yourself...

Holiness and consecration to God and His ways flows from these two commandments.

So be filled today. Enjoy this amazing relationship with God, And enjoy freedom and power to keep His commands which aren't burdensome, but they are beautiful.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for filling me with the love of God. This love and fire has branded my heart—I can never be the same. Thank You for the Holy Spirit. Thank You for your love, and thank You for helping me to love my neighbour as my self, in Jesus' name, Amen.
