Genesis 26:18 Then Isaac departed from there and pitched his tent in the Valley of Gerar, and dwelt there. And Isaac dug again the wells of water which they had dug in the days of Abraham his father, for the Philistines had stopped them up after the death of Abraham. He called them by the names which his father had called them.
Recently we had our chimney swept. It's important and recommended every year if you have an open fire.
With all the usual debris, ash, soot, etc. the sweep found a dead pigeon had fallen down and was next to the flue.
It was blocking the vent and stopping air getting to the fire. It could have been dangerous.
Spiritually sometimes we let dead things block our fire. In the chimneys of our lives we can have regret, grief, things that once were alive, now cause a suffocation of the flame and see a threat to our lives and others.
Other times it's the the enemy that comes to block up our chimney, our well.
If we want the fire of God, the flow of His Spirit, we have to unblock some wells that have been filled in. So the air of the Holy Spirit can blow.
At this time, at Christmas don't let the past, fear, grief, unforgiveness, or even Santa block your chimney. It's not about the man in red, but the man that became red shedding His blood for you; it's about Jesus.
Prayer:
Father, forgive me for allowing the enemy to block up my chimney. I choose with the help of the Holy Spirit to unblock dead things from my life; things of the past, fear, regret, grief that I might burn with Holy Fire. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
