(God loves trees...)
Deuteronomy 20:19 When you mount an attack on a town and the siege goes on a long time, don't start cutting down the trees, swinging your axes against them. Those trees are your future food; don't cut them down. Are trees soldiers who come against you with weapons?
In this situation God's children were at war.
But even at war God says in the old testament not to destroy the trees. This reminds me of the Dr Zeus film the Lorax. "I speak for the trees, for the trees have no tongue"
Save the trees.
So what does this mean to me today . Well we have to look after the environment yes, but there's more.
In the New Testament Jesus says "Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not."
You see you can be under attack but it's important you don't start swinging your axe to attack everybody and everything around you .
Hurting people, hurt people and it's easy when in pain or conflict to destroy everything around you. Including innocent people and trees.
I have made this mistake many times and am wanting to change this .
When people curse or speak evil of you , your battle is not with them or others; but the devil.
Let's not chop everything and everyone down because we are at war. (and I am speaking to myself) Bless them. Speak highly of them.Recognise who you are dealing with, the enemy not the people . Love people, Love trees.
"Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, Nothing is going to get better. It's not."
Dr. Seuss, The Lorax
Break the cycle.
Prayer:
Father forgive me for lashing out at everybody and everything. Kick devil butt in my life today and help me to bless not curse and be part of the solution. Help me to do the right thing in Jesus Name Amen.
