Matt Richards
Psalm 150 PRAISE THE Lord! Praise God in His sanctuary; praise Him in the heavens of His power! Praise Him for His mighty acts; praise Him according to the abundance of His greatness! Praise Him with trumpet sound; praise Him with lute and harp! Praise Him with tambourine and [single or group] dance; praise Him with stringed and wind instruments or flutes! Praise Him with resounding cymbals; praise Him with loud clashing cymbals! Let everything that has breath and every breath of life praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! (Hallelujah!)
What a beautiful Psalm this is. Talking about praising the Lord for who He is and what for He has done. Talking about praising the Lord with different different instruments. Praising the Lord in a building and under an open heaven. The Message says: 'Praise God in His holy house of worship, praise Him under the open skies.' There are many things to praise God for. There are many instruments that can be used as well as our voice. I just love different styles of worship and the use of different instruments in praise. One style or format is just not enough. And we are not limited to a building either. I can remember on one outreach meeting, I set a challenge for those coming that they had to take with them a kitchen utensil to use as an instrument to praise the Lord. Some had pans and wooden spoons, someone a cheese grater and someone even used a whisk. All making a joyful cacophony of noise, all used for His Glory. Funny as this crazy orchestra sounds, and it was radical at the time. The lesson is the Holy Spirit wants and will use anything to bring Jesus praise, even you. There have been many times prisoners have even used the beating of bars of a prison cell to accompany their singing of praise. In this season of church services being gagged, make sure you praise the Lord. The devil wants to stop you praising. The devil wants to gag your praise. Don't let him. Take it to your house, your garden, your bathroom, your beach, your field, just praise the Lord. Why not pick up a kitchen utensil today and be part of the greatest worship team ever, where you are right now? No matter what you sound like, the style of worship you prefer, the instruments you have available and the location you are in...Praise the Lord. Let Everything that has breath praise the Lord. Prayer:
Father today I choose to praise You to bless You, to enjoy You. Holy Spirit help me to use what I have and where I am as an instrument to worship Jesus. In Jesus' name, amen.
