Conquering the Amalakites

Aiden Matthams

Deuteronomy 9:1-3 Listen, O Israel! Today you are about to cross the Jordan River to take over the land belonging to nations much greater and more powerful than you. They live in cities with walls that reach to the sky! 2 The people are strong and tall—descendants of the famous Anakite giants. You’ve heard the saying, ‘Who can stand up to the Anakites?’ 3 But recognize today that the Lord your God is the one who will cross over ahead of you like a devouring fire to destroy them. He will subdue them so that you will quickly conquer them and drive them out, just as the Lord has promised.

The word "Subdue" is a great word. This is what Google says about it's meaning: "To overcome, quieten, or bring under control (a feeling or person)." Similar:

defeat vanquish get the better of overpower overcome overwhelm crush beat master suppress Restrain Hold back Inhibit What this passage is saying is, God has overpowered/overwhelmed/bound up/restrained the giants in our way, so we can take the land and drive them out easily by faith. He gives us the victory and makes us more than conquerers, through faith in Him. You know, Jesus has Gone before us like a consuming fire. He did it at the cross. It says in Collosians 2 that "He disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities, and shamed them publicly by his victory on the cross." Satan is already bound. Our job is to take the victory by faith, and posses what God has. So whatever your "Anakite" is today, God has given you victory and you have all you need to drive it out of your life. Hallelujah! Prayer:

Father Thank You for the victory that Christ has won. Today I drive out every giant from my life. Sickness, poverty, family strife, failure, defeat, unbelief...it all has to go. And I'm coming in to what You promised me by faith in Jesus' name, Amen!
