Romans 4:7,8 “Oh, what joy for those whose disobedience is forgiven, whose sins are put out of sight. Yes, what joy for those whose record the LORD has cleared of sin.”
This truth is the beginning of true joy. Nobody can know true and lasting joy from heaven without this mercy from the Lord.
It wasn't until I repented and realised that my record had been cleared, that a deep and powerful joy came in to my heart.
The closest thing to joy that most people knows is the pleasures of this world, which we all know are shallow.
But when you know that your record has been cleared, the weight off your shoulders is so real!
Many people have criminal records. When you have a record, it follows you around and limits you.
Can't get a job, can't travel to certain countries, can't do this can't do that...in fact you may even be under constant surveillance or on tag because of what you've done. Often, people treat you different when they know your record.
But spiritually, every human being has a criminal record. "All have sinned, all have fallen short of the Glory of God."
And the guilt of sin is a heavy burden. Most people don't realise that their problem is that they are guilty and need mercy. "Why am I so depressed, why is my heart so heavy?" Maybe you need The Lord to clear your record! Then joy comes in and healing comes in and freedom comes in!!
You can repent, and walk away from sin with a clean slate. All the guilty stains of your past washed away.
A clean conscience and a fresh start with Jesus! What joy there is in God's kingdom.
Prayer:
Father, thank You that you are able to clear my record and wash away my past. Thank You for Your mercies towards me, and thank You for the joy that comes with a clean slate!!! In Jesus' name, Amen.
