But Noah

Aiden Matthams

Genesis 6: 5-8 " Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And the Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. So the Lord said, “I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them.” But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord."

Luke Johnson preached a powerful message on this story yesterday at church and it's so timely. And he said that the last days would be like the days of Noah. How true that is. So what was actually happening in those days? Well, God sees the heart. He knows the thoughts, motives, intentions, beliefs, values, and imaginations of everyone on earth, and the ramifications of those thoughts. What happened was that the conscience of the ancient world had been completely blunted. The bible calls it a "seared concience". It's when the lines between right and wrong in the human heart have been erased, there is no remorse, no moral consequence, and a total disregard for righteousness, and holy convictions. In today's world, you don't have to look far to see exactly that, as so many in this generation are calling good evil and evil good. The good news is that there was a "But..." as Pastor Matt Richards would say, Thank God for the 'Buts' of the bible. This time, it's "But Noah....found grace in the eyes of God." And I'm grateful for Noah. We wouldn't be here if he hasn't gone against the grain, and rejected the wicked culture of his day. And now more than ever, just like Luke was saying, we need to rise up and be like Noah. It's time to break free from the mainstream schools of thought, and think on things which are pure and holy. Time to rise up and be different. This time, the story can change: But *your name here*...Found grace in the eyes of God! We can find favour with God in these days, and see the salvation of the Lord Hallelujah. Prayer:

Father help us to be like Noah. We want to be faithful and obedient in these days, help us to create a counter culture and to stand for what's right. Let our conscience remain pure and sharp, and our convictions to stay strong in Jesus' name, Amen.
