Best things in life are free

Matt Richards

Ecclesiastes 6:9 Enjoy what you have rather than desiring what you don’t have. Just dreaming about nice things is meaningless—like chasing the wind.

---- With this Christmas season upon us, this really jumps out at me. The media, tv adverts in particular aimed at people with a message that if only they purchased that aftershave, those trainers, that car, that toy, that gadget they would be happy. Their product will make their lives complete. It seems like our happiness can be just beyond reach. And when we get that gadget, that toy we often find it loses it's desire and like my children when they were real little; where they found more enjoyment with the box the present came in than the gift itself. You know we can be like that too, i can be like that. Always striving for the latest thing or even for a move of God in the future, rather than enjoying what i have right now. You know many years ago Beth and myself went on one of the most beautiful walks (tramps) in New Zealand. It was spectacular. I remember the last day on this adventure a group of walkers just speeding past us, like in a race, focused, fit but missing all the incredible scenery all around. You know its easy to miss the scenery. What we have right now. That is each other, the children growing up all the blessings God has given us. Miss just spending time with Him. With God we might not be there yet in our walk, in our journey of life; but you can enjoy Jesus where are right now. Don't focus on what you don't have at the expense of not enjoying what you do. Enjoy Jesus, enjoy each other, enjoy what you have. The best things in life are free and those things are often the most valuable.

Prayer:

Father thank You for all i have right now. I am so blessed, I am so grateful. Holy Spirit open my eyes and my heart that i might enjoy the small things and most important things in life. Help me to see what's in front of me in Jesus name amen.
