Matthew 26:40-41 And He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and He said to Peter, What! Are you so utterly unable to stay awake and keep watch with Me for one hour? All of you must keep awake (give strict attention, be cautious and active) and watch and pray, that you may not come into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
You know in this passage this was Jesus' greatest need for support, for prayer. Jesus was about to face betrayal and the cross. Unfortunately His closest, the church were asleep. They did not know the significance of the hour,significance for Jesus, for them and for the church.
You know Jesus is coming back real soon and we as church are facing something unprecedented.
There will be no prayer meetings when we get to heaven.
Do you not know the hour we are in?
Am I asleep? Are you asleep? Is the church asleep?
There has never been a time like it.
We need to be awake and praying.
If only the disciples knew the urgency of the hour, perhaps they would have adjusted their sleep pattern, denied their flesh, made a coffee, got up, walked about even, and prayed.
Time to get up and pray. Now is the time to awaken out of sleep for your redemption draws near.
Romans 13:11 But make sure that you don't get so absorbed and exhausted in taking care of all your day-by-day obligations that you lose track of the time and doze off, oblivious to God.
Wake up, get up and pray.
Prayer:
Father forgive me for being so absorbed in my life I have ignored the significance of the hour. I have fallen asleep.
I choose to wake up. Help me, Holy Spirit, stir me to pray in this time in these last moments of world history in Jesus name Amen.
