Matt Richards
Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
"If they had a social Gospel in the days of the Prodigal Son, somebody would have given him a bed and a sandwich and he never would have gone home." Vance Haymer You know we have done loads of work with the homeless and marginalised. And my finding is this, people don't need more food in Norwich; they need more Jesus. Please don't get upset with me saying this. Because we love the homeless (they are our people.) The co-ordinator of the soup run, (ex Salvation Army Major) said to me that if you're homeless today in Norwich, you can be fed five times on a Sunday. Five times. He went on to say many churches and organisations are offering food to people, but no one is giving people...the Gospel. As a 'church' we have become comfortable, even confident in giving food, but uncomfortable, even apologetic giving the Gospel. People truly don't need more food, but need more Jesus. He is our Living Hope. Yes we love people, we need to provide basic needs; but if we forget the Gospel we have missed it big time. I fail many times but my desire is...not to be ashamed. I want to see thousands transformed by the power of the Gospel. Prayer:
Father thank You that we can give people something more than just food. Thank You for the Gospel. Thank You for the blood of Jesus.Thank You for Salvation. I choose not to be fearful today, use me to share the good news with all I meet today, in Jesus' Name Amen.
