Eternity In The Heart

Aiden Matthams

Ecclesiastes 3:11 "God Set Eternity in the Heart of Man. He has made everything beautiful and appropriate in its time. He has also planted eternity [a sense of divine purpose] in the human heart [a mysterious longing which nothing under the sun can satisfy, except God]—yet man cannot find out (comprehend, grasp) what God has done (His overall plan) from the beginning to the end."

We humans are spiritual. God has set eternity in every human heart. There is a longing within each one of us for divine purpose, calling, and destiny. There should be a desire for something deeper than just the normal everyday issues and pursuits of this life.

By design, we've been given this need and desire within for the eternal things. And the only place where we can truly find the answer to this mysterious empty space in our hearts is in our Creator!

In Acts 17, we hear Paul preaching to the Greeks:

"This was so that they would seek God, if perhaps they might grasp for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us."

You and I were created for the pursuit of God Almighty! We were created to seek Him and to find Him. He wants to be sought after, because He wants to be found.

And in finding Him, we find that He was the ultimate desire of our hearts all along. So many in the world are looking in all the wrong places to meet this supernatural need...satan has so many cheap counterfeits.

But nothing compared to the Real Thing! And I'm after the Real. I've tasted and seen that He's good, and now I'm after the fullness of life that God has called me to in Christ.

Are you after the Real Deal? Are you craving something eternal? Something of true Value? Are you dissatisfied with the status quo? Let's go after God, because He's not far from any of us. If we seek him with our whole hearts, we will find Him!

Prayer:

Lord, there's an empty space in my life. I can only describe it as a deep and mysterious desire for the eternal and the divine. I know that You've given me this desire because You are wanting to meet the need. I need You! I want to see Your Glory. Nothing else will do. No one else can fill the void. Just You.

Thank You that You're not impossible to find, but in fact, You're hidden in plain sight. So I'm going to seek You and find You! In Jesus' name Amen.
