Believing And Receiving

Aiden Matthams

Mark 11:24

Douay-Rhiems Bible: "Therefore I say unto you, all things, whatsoever you ask when ye pray, believe that you shall receive; and they shall come unto you."

(Aramaic) “Therefore I say to you, that everything that you pray and ask, believe that you are receiving it and you shall have it.”

ESV "Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours."

Although these are the same text, from 3 different translations, I thought we could just meditate today on how to believe and recieve from God.

Jesus made it SO simple. In fact so much of His teaching on prayer is intended to stir us up in faith and encourage us that we truly can pray and recieve amazing blessings from God!

In fact this should be the normal Christian life. Answered prayer brings glory to God, and it strengthens the faith and the relationship between us and Him.

These three translations have 3 tenses.

Future tense, present tense and past tense...

'...believe you SHALL receive...'

'...believe you ARE receiving...' And

'....believe you HAVE received...'

I kind of think with many breakthroughs it's like a journey. It starts with a need or a desire for something from God, and you begin to ask him for it in prayer.

You start to get excited about it that God is GOING to do it. As you continue, the next stage is where you realise that God has said yes to this request, and you begin to receive NOW by faith what He's told you, you can have.

After this point is reached, you have prayed through and you will feel a release in your spirit. This is where believing that you already HAVE received comes in.

This part confuses people I think, because sometimes you can get to this stage without any outward manifestation in the natural of the actual thing your asking for.

It's a bit of a paradox, but often this stage has to be reached, in order to receive in full, what you are after. '..THEN it shall come upon you.'

It's the place where you're no longer asking God to do it, but you believe He already has done it, and you thank Him and praise Him for His goodness, and for keeping His promises. And before you know it, it HITS you. It comes upon you!

This is especially true for healing. We often just want an instant miracle, so we just keep asking and asking and asking, but never believing, and receiving, and walking it out.

But when the place of praying through is reached, where you truly believe that God has said YES and released what you've been asking for, then it's just a matter of walking it out by faith.

Prayer:

Father thank You for giving us Your word. It's amazing how simple You have made it. ThankYou for answering prayer. Help us to walk out the process and let there be many testimonies of healing and blessings in church! In Jesus' name, AMEN.
